How to unsend your mails on Gmail and Outlook

Steps to Unsend / Recall Mails in GMail


The majority of people use Gmail to send and share important files and documents with their colleagues or classmates. Here are the steps to follow when you want to unsend/recall your emails in Gmail :

  • Step 1 : Visit your GMail Account
  • Step 2: In the top right side, you will see Settings. Click on it and move to See all settings
  • Step 3: After this, you will find ‘Undo Send,’ next to that, a Send cancellation period of 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds will appear.
  • Step 4 : Pick the cancellation period as per your choice

Steps to Unsend/Recall Mails in Outlook


Outlook comes with an option to unsend a mail or even replace it with a new text. Although, the choice is only available if both user and their recipient have an Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange account in the same organization. Follow these steps to unsend the mail :

  • Step 1 : Log in to your Outlook account, double click the message you wish to unsend.
  • Step 2: Below the Messages tab, you will see Actions
  • Step 3: After the Actions tab is opened, you will come across the Recall this Message below.
  • Step 4 : You can choose the option as per your preference, either unsend the mail or change it with a new one.
