Design

OnePlus 9 has a polycarbonate body instead of aluminum which makes it the first OnePlus device to generate this finish on the rear. It holds a rounded rectangle-shaped camera module with the OnePlus logo. The back of the OnePlus has an elegant and minimal look and on the front, it takes a flat punch-hole display, unlike the curved one on the flagship OnePlus 9 Pro. The OnePlus 9 also has an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Indian/Chinese variant of the OnePlus 9 weighs 183gms, whereas the North America/Europe variant weighs 192gms.

Moreover, the OnePlus 9 is available in three color options i.e Winter Mist, Astral Black, and Arctic Sky.

Features

The display on the OnePlus 9 features a 120Hz LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) AMOLED display and the refresh rate is adaptive and can go from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on the type of content being viewed. The 1080p OLED display is slightly lower-resolution than the 1440 screen on the 9 Pro, but it offers the same excellent 120Hz refresh rate. This makes animations and scrolling appear very smooth. The camera system on the OnePlus 9 has brought a huge difference with the Hasselblad OnePlus partnership. As far as the camera specs are concerned, the smartphone gets a 48-megapixel Sony IMX689 primary shooter, a 50-megapixel IMX766 ultra-wide free form lens that eliminates edge distortion issue on ultrawide shots and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor. Further, the OnePlus 9 can capture videos up to 8K 30fps and slow-motion videos up to 720p at 480fps and 1080p at 240fps.Also, the OnePlus 9 camera is capable of recording super crisp 8K and super-slow-motion videos. The size too is manageable. Where the Pro can sometimes feel a little large, this model feels great to hold and use. In terms of connectivity, the OnePlus 9 draws 5G, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, Bluetooth 5.2, and Type-C support. However, the OnePlus 9 refrains Wireless charging and IP rating.

OnePlus 9 India Price

The OnePlus 9 has been valued at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, whereas the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model is rated at Rs 54,999. However, the OnePlus9 Pro comes at a much higher price of Rs 69,999 than the standard Oneplus 9.

Final Opinion

I think the OnePlus 9 is a smart buy overall, with good features and great performance. Personally, I would absolutely buy the 9 over the Pro . A slightly better screen, slightly better charging, and the addition of a mostly mediocre telephoto camera are absolutely not worth the extra money. The hardware in OnePlus 9 is sturdy and there’s a good amount of value. It is great and the phone looks are amazing as well, sophisticated and unique. A good buy for anyone willing to pay for it. Though , the regular OnePlus 9 still stands in the Pro’s shadow, but it’s a better alternative than ever before.
