Microsoft’s Xbox series x is a giant black box with a basic design. It looks like a PC Cabinet with a flat surface with no fins or curves. It has an all matte black finish and stands vertically. However, it comes with rubber feet to align it horizontally according to your convenience but it feels a bit off when placed horizontally.
The sole reason for the square vertical design of Xbox series x is that it is power hungry and a lot of thermal emissions to deal with. To allow the hot air to escape, there is a wide grille on top of the unit with a subtle green light which might not be that visible in the dark. The front of the box has a slot-loading UHD Blu-Ray drive and the power button lights up on use but is not at all flashy.
The sides of the series X do not have anything worth noticing but the back has all the main connections including the Ethernet, slot for storage expansion, and USB-Type-A.
Now coming to the controller of series X, it is simply a delight to look at. The texture of the controller is such that it would not make your hands slip when you sweat. The new controller comes with a share button in the middle that allows you to record videos and take screenshots by simply pressing the button. This controller can be charged with a type-C charger and the D-pad in this controller is now a full circle with a raised cross which makes your gaming experience easier.
