Build and Design

If you look at the device’s build quality, it has a glass front, plastic frame, and a plastic back which is a normal trait in the mid-range segment. This smartphone comes in two colors Space Purple and Space black, with a shiny back. We suggest using the smartphone with a back cover as it catches fingerprints quickly. If we talk about the In-hand feel, it feels like a typical Realme smartphone. It weighs 194gm which is a pretty decent weight.

You can see a 6.60-inch (1080x2412), full HD plus resolution 120 Hz pinhole IPS display in front. At the back, there is a Camera module. At first, it looks like a quad-camera at first sight, though the smartphone has only three cameras. The fourth one is a flash. There is a fingerprint scanner on the Right side, mounted on the power button, making it more accessible to unlock the phone.

The placement of buttons is very accurate; there is no need to stretch your hand. On the left side, it has a volume up and down button, and above that, you can see a dual sim card tray with a dedicated micro SD slot (expandable up to 256 GB). The top side looks lonely, whereas the bottom is filled with speaker grills, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, and a Type-C charging port.

Realme 8i is the first smartphone that comes in India with the Mediatek Helio G96 Soc processor.

The device is packed with a 6.60-inch (1080x2412), full HD plus resolution, 120 Hz punch-hole display, as we mentioned above. It also has a touch sampling rate of 180 Hz and has an impressive peak brightness of 600 nits.

And a battery capacity of 5000 mAh battery with the 18-watt fast charging Type-C port. Realme 8i comes in two variants: 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of ROM.

The Rear Camera setup is arranged into a quad module, 50MP+2MP+2MP with a flash, whereas the front camera comes with a 16 MP camera.

It supports Bluetooth 5.1, Volte, and dual-band wifi. The device comes with Android 11, Realme UI 2.0 out of the box.

Realme 8i comes with the latest Mediatek helio G96 Soc processor and 120 Hz display, making the experience much smoother.

However, we have compared it with the MediaTek helio G95 Soc processor, and we felt a bit of an upgrade in terms of CPU. And Surprisingly, a slight downside in terms of GPU, though you won't even notice it in your daily usage.

We have also tested the Antutu benchmark scores, and it scores 3,40,000, which is quite a good score.

We know what you are thinking about, don’t worry. We have tested BGMI and COD too, and you can play both the games in HIGH-HD settings.

And, UFS 2.0 storage will help to load Apps and games faster and also increase the data transfer speed. Realme 8i has a tri-camera setup at the rear, 50MP+2MP+2MP with a flash, and a 16MP front Camera.

We found the Camera quality of the Realme 8i is decent; close shots are detailed, but it struggles in darker areas and long-range shots. The front camera is also decent; in portrait modes, the separation between the subject and the background is good.

However, there is no such feature as the ultra-wide-angle. You can shoot videos at 1080p from both the back and front camera, though the footage is not stabilized, and you can experience shakes.

Realme 8i has a huge battery capacity of 5000 Mah which can keep you hooked for a long time. It could last a day or two in a single charge.

We have tested BGMI and COD, as we mentioned in the performance section. We felt a slight warmth at the back and a battery percentage drop of 8% by playing these games for half an hour. Although, Realme 8i has good battery life. It will not disappoint you.

The 18W c comes with the device and can charge 30% in 30 minutes and 56 % in a decent hour.

One more thing that we felt was that the fast charging output could be more than 18W because it has a large 5000 Mah battery which will take time to charge fully.

Final Opinion

Realme 8i comes with a powerful processor according to the price range with good battery life and design. Its feature of adaptive brightness is noticeable. However, if your priority is not the camera, you can consider buying it.

We suggest you wait for some more upcoming smartphones in this price segment. As you can compare through with the help of our review and definitely get a better option for your investment.
